Georges River Land Trust Announces New Executive Director

Pamela Dewell, new Executive Director for the Georges River Land Trust.
Georges River Land Trust (GRLT) is delighted to announce the arrival of Pamela Dewell as the new Executive Director starting in November.  Pam comes to the Land Trust with more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit management, and 12 years of experience in land conservation.

For the last eight years, Ms. Dewell has been the Executive Director of the Wyoming Stock Growers Agricultural Land Trust, a statewide organization dedicated to protecting agricultural lands and the cultural, societal and environmental benefits they confer. She successfully led campaigns to protect more than 230,000 acres via 80 conservation easements with 59 landowners. Her prior experience includes work at the Jackson Hole Land Trust, The Nature Conservancy, and the American Sail Training Association.

“I am very excited to join the team at the Georges River Land Trust,” said Ms. Dewell. “It combines my interest in coastal ecology, love of maritime history, and my desire to work with a clearly identified community in conserving lands that it cares deeply about.”

Ms. Dewell’s first event with the Land Trust will be on November 5, 2015, at the Strand Theatre in Rockland for “Climate Change and Our Economy: A Positive Vision for Maine in an Era of Rapid Climate Change.” This event will feature Dr. Stephen Mulkey, President of Unity College, as the keynote speaker, and a panel of Maine ecological leaders discussing options for adapting to climate change in Maine. Tickets can be purchased at www.georgesriver.org/climate-change-summit/ or by calling (207) 594-5166.

The Georges River Land Trust works to conserve the ecosystems and traditional heritage of the Georges River watershed region through permanent land protection, stewardship, education and outdoor experiences.
