Harrisburg, Pa. - The Harrisburg Senators (61-65) scored nine runs in the first inning to win their fifth straight game from the Portland Sea Dogs (46-80), 12-1 Saturday night at Metro Bank Park. Portland falls to 2-3 on their six-game Pennsylvania trip.
Harrisburg sent 14 men to the plate against losing pitcher Mike McCarthy (6-7) and Kyle Kaminska. MLB Rehabber Dan Uggla (3-for-5) went 2-for-2 in the inning with a 2-urn homer and a two-run single. At one point, the Senators had six straight singles and finished the frame with nine hits. Cutter Dykstra, Brian Jerolman and Drew Vettleson had run-scoring singles in the first.
Austin Voth (5-6) earned the win for the Senators, tossing five innings on five hits, one run, one walk and six strikeouts. Portland got their lone run off Both in the fourth on an RBI single from Dustin Lawley. Harrisburg's bullpen pitched four scoreless on just two hits.
Kaminska was terrific in relief of McCarthy (.1 IP, 7 H, 9 R, 2 BB), working 4.2 innings on four hits and the lone run came on a solo-homer by Denard Span (2-for-4,MLB Rehab). The Senators scored two runs off Simon Mercedes in the sixth. Madison Younginer pitched a scoreless eighth.
Carlos Aguaje went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to a season-high eight games. Oscar Tejeda picked up his second straight multi-hit game, going 2-for-4.
The Portland Sea Dogs and Harrisburg Senators (Nationals affiliate) meet for the final time this season today,Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:30 PM from Metro Bank Park. RHP Aaron Wilkerson (1-1, 5.09) makes his fourth Double-A start. Harrisburg counters with righty Brian Rauh (1-3, 5.06).
