The Grand Tells “The Adventures of Tintin!”

Ellsworth, Maine - The Grand presents a special vacation matinee screening of the the animated classic “The Adventures of Tintin” (featuring the voices of Jamie Bell, Daniel Craig and Simon Pegg) showing daily at 1 pm from Monday, April 21st  through Friday April 25th for only $1 per person! The film is sponsored by the City of Ellsworth and Morton’s Moo.

What’s better than getting out of the rainy Spring day and into a warm theater and seeing one of the greatest family films of all time? For the April Vacation week , The Grand offers everyone the opportunity to see a great film the way it was meant to be seen- projected on a giant screen, larger than life- a film that is all ages-appropriate, so you can bring the whole family. And in the great  “The Adventures of Tintin” the audience can see a story that leaps straight from Hergé's comic strip and onto the screen, all the while enjoying the fantastic sights and creatures that are associated with that film!

Based on “The Adventures of Tintin” comic strip and graphic novel series and directed by Steven Spielberg, the film tells the story of Tintin (the voice of Jamie Bell), a young journalist, and his dog Snowy who are looking for the fabled treasure of Sir Francis Haddock's sunken ship the Unicorn. With help from the redoubtable Captain Haddock (the voice of Andy Serkis) and clumsy detectives Thomson and Thompson (the voices of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost), Tintin competes with the villainous Ivan Ivanovitch Sakharine (the voice of Daniel Craig) to find the treasure-laden sunken ship. The film also features of the voices of Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.

So bring the whole family, get out of the rain, and share the experience of seeing one of the great family adventures the way it was meant to be seen- on the big screen- as The Grand presents “The Adventures of Tintin.”

“The Adventures of Tintin” is part of The Grand's Film Program that includes a screening of the classic “The Grapes of Wrath” (with career-making performances from Henry Fonda and Jane Darwell) screening on Friday May 2nd  at 7 pm for $7 for Adults, $6 for Seniors/Students and $5 for Grand Members General Admission. There is a special school screening at 10 am; please call the box office for more details and to reserve student tickets. This films screens in partnership with The Ellsworth Public Library.
