Rockland Main Street, Inc. – Variety Show Talent Call

Rockland, Maine - The community variety show hosted each year by Rockland Main Street, Inc. has announced a call for talent.

Deadline for performer registration is May 23.

Midcoast Maine Has Talent – Or Not, as the show is titled, is seeking as many as 15 separate acts to participate at the popular event.

In past years the show has brought some fine musicians and performers to the stage at the Strand Theater, providing an entertaining evening for all in attendance.

And according to the organizers, not all the performers can hit the high notes or dance without a slip or two.
“It’s all for fun, and though there will be some solid acts, no one takes themselves too seriously”, said Paul Benjamin, who will be returning this year as the Master of Ceremonies. Benjamin’s North Atlantic Blues Festival and the Strand Theater are sponsors for this year’s event.

While some acts may have experience performing before a large audience, most of the show will be made up
of old friends and newcomers to the midcoast community who want to share their talent. Benjamin said the show is open to everyone, and expects to see a wide selection of entertainment genres.

According to Benjamin the event was developed by Rockland Main Street, Inc., exclusively for the entertainment of the community. “We want people to come and enjoy themselves, sing along, and have a few laughs in the heart of downtown Rockland”, he said.

Tickets will be available at the door: Adults $10; Students $5.

Performers who wish to be considered for the show are encouraged to contact Benjamin not later than May 23 at 207.596.6055, or by email at bluesman@midcoast.com.

In addition to the variety show and other events like the annual Summer Solstice Celebration; the Festival of Lights Parade and Lobster Trap Christmas Tree; and “So You Think You Know Rockland” competition, Rockland Main Street, Inc. is committed to the historic preservation of, and economic development in the downtown district.
