Damariscotta, Maine - Sharon Corwin, the Carolyn Muzzy Director and Chief Curator at the Colby College Museum of Art will join Jane Dahmen, contemporary realist artist, to launch “Talking Art in Maine, Intimate Conversations” at Damariscotta’s Lincoln Theater on Friday April 25 at 1 PM.  Talking Art in Maine is an occasional series of personal, one on one conversations between our host, Jane Dahmen, and notable artists and curators who have made a substantial contribution to the arts in the state of Maine. They are offered free to the public.

Sharon oversees the entire Museum including the Lunder Collection, a gift of over 500 works of art worth one hundred million dollars recently donated to Colby.  Jane and Sharon’s conversation will be wide ranging, exploring such topics as Sharon’s role as curator, her personal vision for the future and her thoughts on art and culture.

Jane and Sharon will explore how Sharon first met the Lunders, how they ended up donating their collection to Colby, discuss some of her favorite pieces from the collection as well as engage in more personal topics such as Sharon's fast advancement to the head curatorial position at Colby, what it is like behind the scenes of a head curator, and perhaps share a few stories of the well-known artists whom Sharon has met and how they have influenced her.

The hour long conversation, which takes places at Lincoln Theater, 2 Theater Street in Damariscotta, will be followed by a Q & A from the audience.  Additional information can be found on the theater’s website, www.atthelincoln.org, or by calling 563-3424.  Please join us for our first in a series exploring the arts in Maine, on the personal side, through intimate conversations.
