Mid Coast Welcomes Third Nurse Midwife to Women’s Health Team

BRUNSWICK, ME – Mid Coast Medical Group – Women’s Health Care welcomed Aoife E. O’Brien, RN, CNM to its Midwifery services team. Working collaboratively with the obstetricians and gynecologists, the three nurse-midwives on staff offer traditional birthing services in an advanced care setting.

O’Brien joins Alexis Nolan, RN, CNM, and Suzanne Zimmerman, CNM providing full scope nurse-midwifery services including maternity care, family planning, and well woman gynecological care at all stages of life. Together, they provide 24/7 coverage and services at Mid Coast Hospital’s state-of-the-art Maternity Care Center.

“I am thrilled to join the midwifery practice here at Mid Coast Hospital, as its reputation for providing exceptional care and building community precedes it,” said O’Brien. “I look forward to becoming a part of that community myself, while building trusting, autonomous relationships with women and their families through the childbearing years, and across the lifespan.”

O’Brien obtained both her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and Master’s of Science in Nurse-Midwifery from Columbia University School of Nursing in New York. She has been involved in birth work for almost ten years in various settings, most recently on staff at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital. She is proficient in medical Spanish.
