New Dad Workshop Comes to Mid Coast

Brunswick, ME – Mid Coast Hospital, in partnership with Midcoast Maine Community Action Families CAN!, now offers Boot Camp For New Dads, a free 3-hour workshop for first-time fathers to talk openly and ask questions about being a new dad. Soon-to-be and recent dads have three opportunities to attend: Saturday, February 22, 9 a.m. to noon; Saturday, March 29, 9 a.m. to noon; or Monday, April 28, 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

“Offering a class just for dads gives us the opportunity to connect with new dads in a non-threatening, comfortable setting,” said Eileen Delaney, Director of Mid Coast Hospital Maternity Care. “This program serves to strengthen the community by providing a natural support system for new fathers, with information and guidance that leads to a happier and healthier home for children.”

Boot Camp features veteran dads talking frankly about their experience when they became new dads. Topics covered include baby care, changing roles within the family, and tending to the needs of the mom after birth. Boot Camp helps men feel confident with bringing the new baby home and better prepares them for the challenges of being a dad.

During the workshop, expectant dads have the opportunity to experience hands-on activities such as holding, diapering, and feeding a baby under the watchful and experienced eye of the veteran dads and the program facilitator. Participants will have the opportunity to network with other soon-to-be and recent fathers while also enjoying a complementary meal.

Class size is limited to the first ten men who register through Mid Coast Hospital Maternity Care at www.midcoasthealth.com/maternity/take-a-class<http://www.midcoasthealth.com/maternity/take-a-class>.
