PechaKucha Night Presenters Announced for September 13 at Bayview Cinema in Camden

Midcoast Maine - The organizers of PechaKucha Night Midcoast Maine are pleased to announce the next PechaKucha event will take place on Friday, September 13 at Bayview Cinema in downtown Camden, located at 10 Bayview Street. These events celebrate the creativity of our community through visual storytelling in a unique presentation style where eight individuals share their work, their ideas, and their creative process with a 20-second-per-image, 20-image slideshow. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. and program begins at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the entrance.

The September 13 event will offer engaging, fast-paced presentations from a diverse array of creative talents from our region, including the following eight individuals:

PechaKucha Night Midcoast Maine’s organizing partners include Midcoast Magnet; the Farnsworth Art Museum; Maine Boats, Homes & Harbors; Waterfall Arts; and various creative community members including Amanda Austin, Maggi Blue, Lorna Crichton, Jane Farthing, Kelly Finlay, Jana Herbener, and Leila Murphy. The Island Institute’s Store Archipelago and Pen Bay Medical Center’s Picker Family Resource Center are the event sponsors for September. The Maine Technology Institute is a supporting sponsor.

Now an international phenomenon, PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds. It’s a format that makes presentations concise, and keeps things moving at a rapid pace.
