Flood Warning & Flash Flood Warning In Effect

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GRAY MAINE HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD WARNING FOR URBAN AREAS AND SMALL STREAMS IN...

  ANDROSCOGGIN COUNTY IN SOUTHWEST MAINE...
  WESTERN KNOX COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL MAINE...
  SAGADAHOC COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL MAINE...
  LINCOLN COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL MAINE...
  EASTERN OXFORD COUNTY IN WESTERN MAINE...
  NORTHERN CUMBERLAND COUNTY IN MAINE...
  SOUTHERN KENNEBEC COUNTY IN SOUTH CENTRAL MAINE...

* UNTIL 100 PM EDT

* AT 702 AM...DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO SHOW BANDS OF HEAVY SHOWERS
AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS MOVING INTO SOUTHERN MAINE...MAINLY FROM
EASTERN OXFORD COUNTY AND POINTS EAST TOWARDS THE MIDCOAST REGION.
MORE SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL ENTER THIS REGION THIS MORNING AS THEY
MOVE NORTH OUT OF THE GULF OF MAINE AT 30 MPH.

MOST AREAS IN THIS REGION WILL RECEIVE AN INCH OR TWO RAINFALL FROM
THIS SYSTEM.  HOWEVER...LOCALLY HEAVY DOWNPOURS WILL ALLOW A FEW
COMMUNITIES TO RECEIVE 3 TO 5 INCHES OF RAIN.  THIS WILL LIKELY LEAD
TO FLOODING IN SOME COMMUNITIES THIS MORNING.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A FLOOD WARNING MEANS FLOODING IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT. MOST
FLOOD RELATED DEATHS OCCUR IN AUTOMOBILES. DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS
WATER COVERED BRIDGES...DIPS...OR LOW WATER CROSSINGS. NEVER TRY TO
CROSS A FLOWING STREAM...EVEN A SMALL ONE...ON FOOT. TO ESCAPE RISING
WATER MOVE UP TO HIGHER GROUND.

* FLASH FLOOD WARNING FOR...
  SOUTHWESTERN OXFORD COUNTY IN WESTERN MAINE...
  NORTHERN CARROLL COUNTY IN NORTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE...
  SOUTHEASTERN COOS COUNTY IN NORTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE...
  EASTERN GRAFTON COUNTY IN NORTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE...

* UNTIL 1030 AM EDT

* AT 430 AM...DOPPLER RADAR CONTINUED TO SHOW HEAVY SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS MOVING NORTH AT 25 MPH THROUGH PORTIONS OF NORTHEAST
NEW HAMPSHIRE AND ADJACENT AREAS IN WESTERN MAINE.
LOCALLY...RAINFALL RATES WILL BE ONE TO TWO INCHES PER HOUR THROUGH
SUNRISE.  THIS WILL ALLOW FOR STORM RAINFALL TOTALS IN THE THREE TO
SIX INCH RANGE.  ESPECIALLY VULNERABLE AREAS FOR FLASH FLOODING WILL
BE THE SOUTHEAST FACING HIGHER TERRAIN.

* LOCATIONS IN THE WARNING INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
BETHEL...JACKSON...INTERVALE...BARTLETT...CONWAY...TAMWORTH AND
CRAWFORD NOTCH.
