Thursday, September 26
 First session of Senior College Class, “The Shocking Truth About Money,” led by Randall Parr, 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Meets for eight Thursdays. Register with the Senior College, 800-286-1594.

Camden Philosophical Society hosts Robert Olson, senior fellow at the Institute For Alternative Futures, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, on “Advancing Technology and Images of the Future.”


Saturday, September 28
 Bangladesh delegation will speak at Camden Public Library at 3:00 pm, hosted by the Camden Conference. Partners for World Health (PWH), a Maine-based non-profit, all-volunteer organization, is bringing members of Eminence, a public health and social development NGO from Bangladesh.


Tuesday, October 1
 Historian and Civil War expert Blakie Hines will give a talk at the Camden Public Library at 7:00 pm to portray how the citizens on the home front during the Civil War responded to the horrors and reality of wounded patients in primitive army hospitals, and prisoners of war at a time when there was no Red Cross, Salvation Army, Goodwill, or any other disaster relief organization. Part of the Library’s Discover History Month.


Wednesday, October 2
 Midcoast Stroke Support Group monthly meeting, 10:00 am at the Camden Public Library. All are welcome.


Thursday, October 3
 “Sudden Fiction” Free Writing Workshop Series begins at the Camden Public Library. The sessions will be held on six Thursday mornings, October 3 through November 7, 10:00 am to noon. The workshop will be led by writing coach Lee Heffner. Call the library at 236-3440 to register, class size is limited.

The Camden Library Coffeehouse features The Alehouse Band, 7:00 pm. The Alehouse Band has just the right mix of instruments, voices, and selections of traditional songs brought to Alehouse life. April Reed-Cox on cello, Oren Robinson on guitar, and Brian Dunn on mandolin. $7 at the door.

October 7
 Thomas Hepp will present “Wellness 101” at the regular Wellness Brown Bag Lunch, co-hosted by the Camden Public Library and the Pen Bay Regional Chamber of Commerce, at noon at the Library.


Tuesday, October 8
 Local historian Hank Lunn will present “Camden’s Experience in the War of 1812,” based on diaries and historical records. Part of the Discover History Month celebration, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.

The free Hatchery Entrepreneurial Series at the Camden Public Library continues at 7:00 pm with “Love Your Numbers,” how creating the right accounting system and learning how to read the data can be the difference between success and failure. Sponsored by the Bangor Savings Bank



Thursday, October 10
 Author Robin Lloyd will give a talk at 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library on his fascinating new historical novel, Rough Passage to London: A Sea Captain’s Tale, based on the career of his real-life ancestor Captain Elisha Ely Morgan. Part of the Discover History Month celebration.
