Producers of Reality TV Series - North Woods Law Plan New Maine-Based Production

Augusta, Maine - The Maine Film Office has issued a media production certificate to Emmy Award-winning, Engel Entertainment. The certification means Maine could once again be the backdrop for a new reality TV series.

The New York-based production company is planning to shoot a pilot in the Bangor area starting this Friday, August 16. According to Engel Entertainment, the pilot focuses on a "very unique Maine family". If the pilot is successful, the new show would air on ABC Family.

"The entire state benefits from a vibrant film industry," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "We have the locations, talented crews, and the businesses to supply the goods and services needed to produce a hit television series or a blockbuster movie."

The producers are expected to employ about three Maine residents and have a direct spend of more than $170,000 for the week long shoot in Maine.

"We are actively marketing Maine as a location for all forms of production," said Film Office Director - Karen Carberry Warhola.

The Maine Film Office is part of the Maine Office of Tourism within the Department of Economic and Community Development (DECD). Film, television and commercial production companies spending at least $75,000 in Maine may qualify for the Maine Visual Media Incentive Plan. The incentives are a mix of various rebates and credits.

"Last year the direct spend of the productions that filmed in Maine was almost $40 for every $1 paid out in the incentive program," added Carberry Warhola.

RCN America is pleased to hear this news as Maine is a very special place that should be shared with the world. Stay with us as we will keep our readers informed.
