Waldoboro/Warren, Maine - A paving project begins on Wednesday, August 7th on Route 1, starting 0.24 miles southerly of the Waldoboro/Warren town line, extending northerly 2.62 miles, ending 0.02 miles northerly of the Camden Road (Route 90).
All paving work will be performed at night from 6 p.m. to 7a.m. Catch basin and guardrail work, as well as work outside of the roadway, may take place during the daytime hours of 7a.m. to 6 p.m. Flaggers will assist motorists with alternating one-way traffic through this area.
This project will consist of removing the existing pavement and replacing the hot mix asphalt surface (mill and fill) for approximately the first mile. The remainder will receive a hot mix overlay. Side roads and entrances will be paved to match into the new pavement after the mainline paving has been completed.
Non curb and guardrail sections will have the outer 2' of existing shoulder pavement removed, reducing the width of the shoulder from 10' to 8'.
The results will provide motorists with a better quality ride and make the roadway easier to maintain, in particular during the winter months.
It is anticipated this $635,000 project, performed by Lane Construction, Corp. will be completed by mid-September.
