Falmouth Spur Bridge Project Work Starts Monday, March 18

Southbound off ramp will be closed for extended periods
Portland, Maine - The Maine Turnpike Authority will begin a project on Monday, March 18 to
rehabilitate the Exit 52 Interchange Bridge which carries Falmouth Spur traffic over the Turnpike.
The project will be completed in phases and limit southbound access to and from the Falmouth
Spur until the project is completed in November. Southbound on and off ramp closures will include:

The southbound off-ramp for traffic exiting the Maine Turnpike will be closed Monday, March
18 for approximately 3 weeks.

Both the southbound on ramp and off ramp will be closed for approximately one week in
late-May or early-June.

The southbound off-ramp for traffic exiting the Turnpike will close again from late-May /
early-June until major construction activities conclude in November 2013.

Commuters who currently travel southbound from points north of Exit 52 are encouraged to plan
ahead and seek alternate routes prior to the start of the project. Suggested alternate routes to I-
295 from the Maine Turnpike include Exit 45 (Maine Mall Road), Exit 48 (Riverside St./Larrabee Rd)
to Brighton Avenue and Exit 53 (West Falmouth) to Route 100 and Washington Avenue.

The $3.5 million project, awarded to CPM Constructors of Freeport, consists of rehabilitation of the
Exit 52 Falmouth Spur Interchange bridge superstructure over the Maine Turnpike. The work
includes partial replacement of the concrete bridge deck, replacement of the bridge railings, raising
the bridge to increase the under clearance over the Turnpike, concrete substructure modifications,
repairs and approach work.

Turnpike Authority staff will hold a public information meeting and overview of the Exit 52
Interchange Bridge Project at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the Maine Turnpike
Authority located off of Exit 46 (Jetport) of the Maine Turnpike.

Ramp closure dates and alerts will be posted in advance on electronic message signs on approach
to the project area. The Maine Turnpike advises drivers to proceed through the work zones with
caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

The MTA works to inform the public about planned Turnpike lane closures and travel alerts, but
there is a possibility that unscheduled work may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
