Rockport Dance Conservatory Returns from Regional Dance Competition

RDC Junior Hip Hop Competition Members

Rockport Dance Conservatory returned with great results from their performances in the Dancers Inc
Regional Dance Competition held March 15th and 16th in North Berwick, Maine.  Fourteen RDC students competed and were judged by level on technique, style, and delivery of choreography and were competing against other studios from all over the Northeast.

The Competition kicked off Friday evening with Senior Solos.  Sydney Fields performed a musical theatre solo to "If they could see me now," choreographed by Sally Leighton and received a High Silver.  Moira Pieri performed a hip hop solo to "Rumor Has It," choreographed by Kari Cameron and received a Gold.  Rosie Lawson performed a contemporary solo to "Guess It May," choreographed by Kari Cameron and received a High Gold and placed 1st overall in the Senior Future Star Division.  Katlyn Byors performed an open solo to "Eyes on Fire," choreographed by Kari Cameron and received a Gold.  Hannah Olsen performed a tap solo to "They Don't Really Care About Us," choreographed by Sally Leighton and received a High Gold, a Special Judges Award for "Clean and Clear Tap Sounds," and placed 1st overall in the Senior Rising Star Division.

Saturday's competition kicked off with Junior Groups. Sydney Fields, Ellie Berez, Sadie Mills, Annika Charland, and Piper Pavelich performed a hip hop number to "Whoopsy Daisy," choreographed by Kari Cameron and received a Gold.  RDC’s youngest dancers Kelsey Guinn, Carrie Long, Karla Strauss, and Paige Chester performed a musical theatre routine to "April Showers," choreographed by Kari Cameron and received a Gold.  Kelsey Guinn performed her solo to "Almost There," choreographed by Kari Cameron and received a Gold.  Sadie Mills and Sydney Fields performed a musical theatre duo to "Wash that Man," choreographed by Sally Leighton and received a Gold and placed 3rd overall in the Junior Duo/Trio Future Star Division.  Moira Pieri and Sean Oshima performed a hip hop duo to "Too Close," choreographed by Kari Cameron and received a High Gold.
 
Rockport Dance Conservatory is in its sixth year under the direction of Kari Cameron. RDC’s Competition Team has been winning awards Nationally and Regionally since 2008. Rockport Dance Conservatory is located at MidCoast Recreation Center in Rockport.
