“Year of Community” exhibition season announced for 2013 in celebration of Harlow Gallery’s 50th year

Hallowell, Maine - The Kennebec Valley Art Association is proud to announce the schedule for its 50th year of exhibitions at the Harlow Gallery.  The Gallery opened at its current location in downtown Hallowell on November 17, 1963.  In celebration of that milestone, the art association is celebrating with a community minded series of exhibitions, including partnerships with SpinOff Studio, the Vaughan Homestead Foundation, the Kennebec Valley Humane Society, and will be offering up to seven opportunities for Maine artists to exhibit their work at the Harlow Gallery in 2013.

The Harlow Gallery is owned and operated by the Kennebec Valley Art Association, a non-profit membership based art association promoting the arts in central Maine since 1958.  Our mission is to connect and celebrate art, artists and community. Exhibitions at the Harlow Gallery are chosen from among proposals submitted by artists. The exhibition committee, made up of staff and volunteers, reviews submissions twice yearly. Exhibition proposals are accepted anytime, with deadlines on April 1st and October 1st.  Interested artists may contact the gallery for proposal forms or visit www.harlowgallery.org.

Serving on the committee this past year were Michael Hudak, professional curator and former vice president of the KVAA board of directors; Marie Giguere, professional arts administrator and current secretary of the KVAA board of directors; Jodi Williams, professor of library studies at the University of Maine at Augusta,  Farmingdale artist Scott King and Harlow staff members Deb Fahy and Nancy Barron.
