Musician Spotlight: Meadow Ryan Singer/Songwriter/Performer

In Charlestown, Indiana there is a very talented 13 year old Singer and Songwriter that caught our attention through her great singing voice. This Singer and Songwriter is Meadow Ryan whose style of singing is Country/Pop. We recently had a chance to interview this 13 year old Singer/Songwriter from Charlestown, Indiana. Below is our interview we recently did with thus young Singer and Songwriter following her dreams.

1.)
Q: When did you first start singing?
A: Well, I know I started singing and playing guitar about two years ago. I started singing on accident. It was a week or so before school started that year and I begged my mom to take me to a
karaoke night...She took me and I haven't stopped singing since.
2.)
Q: Was it your dream to be a singer?
A: No. I was a star cheerleader and I thought that was going to be what I was going to do for the rest of my life. I had my life pretty much planned out. I wanted to go to college on a cheer leading scholarship, but I soon realized that singing and performing was what I wanted to do.
3.)
Q: Tell us about your style of singing.
A: Well, I don't just have one certain style, I have many. I can sing and play songs from all different eras. 80's rock, old country, pop, new country, a little bit of folk. I can do a lot. I like to take a song that everyone knows and totally make it my own.
4.)
Q: Are there challenges in pursuing a singing career.
A: Of course there are challenges. There are going to be challenges in anything you do in life. I love a good challenge... That's what makes it fun! One of the biggest challenges in trying to pursue a music career is probably trying to juggle everything. School, music, practicing, going to sporting events, that's my me time going to the local schools sporting events... And I have to sleep sometime! That is probably the hardest part.
5.)
Q: Does your parents and friends support you?
A: Absolutely, my parents support me 100%. My mom is definitely my biggest supporter. She is always there for me and she helps me with everything music and non-music related. I also have some really great friends that are always there for me. They always try to come to my shows and help me practice.
6.)
Q: Do you write your own songs?
A: Absolutely. Songwriting is my ex scape. If I have a bad day, or even a really good day, I will write about it. I don't see songwriting as something I should do to help my music career, I see it as a hobby or something fun to do.
7.)
Q: Tell us what goes into writing a great song.
A: One word: emotion. You can't write a song without feeling something. It's like a flower trying to grow without sunlight and water... It can't happen.
8.)
Q:Where was your first performance? Were you excited?
A: My very first performance was at my school when I was in forth grade. I had only been playing guitar for maybe a month or two and I sang and played "The Climb" By Miley Cyrus on guitar. It was the only song I knew how to play on the guitar for quite sometime.
9.)
Q: Where have you been able to perform?
A: It would take 5 years and a day to answer that question in complete detail...lol Let me think... I have had the opportunity to sing at so many great places it is unbelievable. Many restaurants, jamborees, Hard Rock Cafe in Biloxi, MS, The Rutledge in Nashville, TN, The Brown Theater in Louisville KY, Nashville Palace in Nashville TN, Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington, KY, May Fest in Ocean Springs MS, many festivals, birthday parties, nursing homes... Just to name a few. I have also done many events for charity, which is always fun and it's nice to know you are helping others with you talent. One of my favorite places that I have been able to perform is Ross Country Jamboree in Scottsburg, IN. They have an amazing band and you get to share the stage with so many other talented performers. I have been lucky enough to perform more than once there. I also really love it at Eddie Montgomery's Steakhouse. They have a great venue, a really nice stage and the sound there is amazing!
10.)
Q:Who inspires you with your singing and songwriting?
A: My great grandpa, Harold inspires me most with singing and playing guitar. He recently passed away and that has been very hard, but he could literally play any instrument with strings. My songwriting inspiration comes from my momma, friends, a lot of times it will just be something that has happened that day.
11.)
Q: If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
A: I would love to go on a tour with our troops and play for them in every country they went. The reason is, our troops do so much for us and I would love to give just a little back to them.
12.)
Q: Who would you love to perform with?
A: Easy. Taylor Swift. She is my idol and role model. She is so talented and like any 13 year old girl, I can really relate to her music. I would also love to perform with Michael Jackson, if he was still around. He was a great entertainer.
13.)
Q: What are some of your goals for your music?
A: My goal is to be successful. To me, success and fame are two totally different things. Being successful to me is just doing what I love, which is music. That means teaching music, or just singing locally or wherever else it may take me. I would love for my music to be able to touch and change just one persons life...that would make me feel successful. My mom says that has already happened, so maybe I have already achieved my success, everything else, well that will be a bonus.
14.)
Q: What do you hope to accomplish with your singing and songwriting?
A: Well, I would love to hear one of my songs on the radio one day. As long as I'm singing and playing I'm happy. I would love to inspire other young kids to follow their dreams no matter what. I write a lot of my songs about bullying because it is something that has happened to me, and in my songs about bullying I hope to get my message across to kids and teens that if they are being bullied, never give up and don't let the bully bring you down. It can be hard sometimes, but just keep pushing through.  Just to inspire others to never give up. We dream... because we can achieve.
15.)
Q: Do You have any advice for those wanting to start a career in singing and songwriting?
A: My advice to those who want to start a career in singing and songwriting is, never give up. You must start somewhere. No matter what anyone says, always go after your dream. Also, work hard.
16.)
Q: Is there anything else you want readers to know about you, your singing and songwriting?
A: One thing I want everyone to know about me is that I love my friends and that I think a few really good friends is much better than a whole lot of so called friends you can't trust with your most coveted secret. Also, I think my dog is pretty cool, because he is totally hairless. His name is Buddy and he is an American Hairless Terrier. I am so very excited about my very first upcoming music video for my original song, "A Girl's Advice." (Sound clip of, "A Girl's Advice," is on my soundcloud site www.soundcloud.com/meadowryann.) One more thing I'm super excited about is my very first album coming out very, very soon with cover songs and a couple of original song clips! So be looking out for, "Wings"  my very first album. Also, I recently competed in Nashville TN in a competition called Madd Talent. There were 46 competitors from 6 states, and I have made it to the final round, but now I need you to help me. I need you to vote for me, Meadow Ryann, at www.maddtalentmusic.com. Once there, you need to first register then find my video and vote once everyday! And tell all your friends to vote too!  For more information about me and my music check out www.meadowryann.com, www.youtube.com/meadowryann, and www.facebook.com/meadowryann!
17.)
Q: Do you have any other talents?
A:  Actually, I do! I love to draw and I am pretty good at it! I do pretty good at artistic things like painting, stuff like that. Also, I am very fashion conscious, so someday I may be an interior designer. I am also very talented in sports... cheer leading, softball, and swimming. I also like to play piano and drums when I get time!

Rocky Coast News is pleased to have Meadow Ryan featured as our latest "Musician Spotlight", where we highlight, promote up and coming musicians that have amazing vocals, sound, style and/or who are able to play an instrument well singing.
