Maine Community Foundation offers $1,000 awards for Cobe Scholarships

Belfast, Maine - Calling all first-time college students interested in taking one course at the Hutchinson Center. The Maine Community Foundation is offering the Ira M. Cobe Fund Scholarship of $1,000 to residents of Waldo County. The student needs to be a high-school graduate and under the age of 23. This is for a first-time student with preference for those who are taking one class to explore the possibility of furthering their education. There is a preference for students for whom a scholarship would make a significant difference in their ability to attend the Hutchinson Center.

Just imagine…….this scholarship will pay for one college course, tuition, fees and books. There is no better way to give college a try! This scholarship award has been increased from $500 to the current $1,000. What are you waiting for? Now is the time to explore college and take a University course.

Family income must fall within the federal reduced lunch program. Contact Nancy Boyington at the Hutchinson Center for an application, 338-8002 or email: nancyb@maine.edu. It is a very simple application and the scholarship can open the door for you to go to college in Belfast.
