Augusta, Maine - In celebration of National Home Care & Hospice Month, First Lady Ann M. LePage will salute home care and hospice professionals and volunteers on Wednesday, November 7 at an annual Blaine House tea.
“Home care and hospice combine to provide quality of care, compassion and comfort for many Mainers suffering from chronic illnesses,” said the First Lady. “These resources are critical to Maine families as they cope with the difficulties of losing a loved one."
During the event, hosted by the Home Care & Hospice Alliance of Maine and the Maine Hospice Council and Center for End-of-Life Care, Mrs. LePage will be presenting the Governor’s proclamation declaring November as National Home Care & Hospice Month. The month-long celebration not only pays tribute to the professionals and volunteers who are dedicated to providing physical, spiritual and emotional support to patients, but it also serves as a means of increasing public awareness about the value of home care and hospice.
Being recognized with awards at the tea are two volunteers: Laura LePine, VNA Home Health & Hospice (Hospice Volunteer Award Recipient) and Mary Maddox, Kno-Wal-Lin Home Care and Hospice (Home Care Volunteer Award Recipient).
WHEN: 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 7
WHERE: Blaine House, Augusta
