Calendar Of Events – NOVEMBER 29 TO DECEMBER 18

 Thursday, November 29
 Polly Mahoney of Mahoosuc Guide Service will share slides of her dog sledding experiences in the Yukon Territory, Maine, Nunavut, and northern Quebec, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. She will bring a couple of her friendly sled dogs to meet you, and a sled to demonstrate harnessing the dogs.

 Friday, November 30
 Opening Reception for Camden’s Christmas-by-the-Sea, 5:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Holiday selections performed by CHRHS vocal and instrumental students. Bring new or like new hats, mittens, gloves, and scarves to decorate the Hat & Mitten Tree.

 Saturday, December 1
 “Simply Books!” book club at the Camden Public Library, 2:00 pm. All are welcome. Simply bring along whatever book you are currently reading and share it with the group.

 Sunday, December 2
 The Maine Daylily Society presents highlights of the American Hemerocallis Society National Convention, 1:30 pm at the Camden Public Library. Holiday refreshments and door prizes!

 Monday, December 3
 The Writers’ Group of the Coastal Senior College will present a reading of their latest works at 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. All are welcome. “The Writers’ Group has two big things going for it: talent and diversity,” says organizer Marilyn Muth.

 Tuesday, December 4
 Photographer Brian Vanden Brink will give an illustrated talk on his newest book, Iconic, at the Camden Public Library at 7:00 pm. An award-winning photographer from Camden, Vanden Brink is well known for his exquisite images of architecture.

 Wednesday, December 5
 Midcoast Stroke Support Group meeting, 10:00 am at the Camden Public Library. All are welcome.

 Thursday, December 6
 Opening reception for the art team Clarity (Robert and Su.Sane Hake) at the Camden Public Library, 6:00 to 9:00 pm. This year’s December show, entitled “Body As Light: A New Order,” is a show filled with beautiful angels, magical boxes, and shining beings that enter our time of Christmas. The reception will include refreshments, with music by Kristina Disciullo, Andrea Goodman, and Tom Albury.

 Sunday, December 9
 Free writing workshop at the Camden Public Library, 2:00-4:00 pm. Writing coach and instructor Teresa Piccari will detail how The Hero’s Journey provides a reliable and creative structure for storytelling. Includes writing exercises designed to demonstrate the value of applying mythic tradition to your creative work. Please call the library at 235-3440 to register, limited to 12 participants.

 Thursday, December 13
 Dr. Anouar Majid on “Revolutions Without Reason: How Religion Undermines Freedom in the Middle East and North Africa,” 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. A Camden Conference Community Event.

 Tuesday, December 18
 Sandra Oliver, pioneering food historian and freelance food writer, presents her new book,Maine Home Cooking: 175 Recipes from Down East Kitchens, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Sandra Oliver brings the traditions and recipes of generations of Maine home cooks to life.
