M’Lynn. Shelby. And of course, Ouizer. Those beloved characters came from one of the biggest theater hits of all time. And now, firmly in the tradition of such Grand, community-driven productions as its smash hits Thornton Wilder's Our Town, Alice Down the Rabbit Hole, It's A Wonderful Life: The Radio Play, A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline, Annie, Alice Through The Looking Glass, A Musical Christmas Carol, The Wizard of Oz and the upcoming Clue, The Musical, The Grand invites local talent to perform in a stage adaptation of one of the stage’s finest comedy-dramas. Tracy Kimball Green directs this community production which gives seven diverse local actresses the opportunity to play one of the famous characters in this story of female friendship through tragedy in the modern American South. Roles include-
TRUVY JONES – 38-50. Owner of the Beauty Shop.
ANNELLE DUPUY DESOTO – 17-28. Beauty Shop Assistant.
CLAIREE BELCHER – 60+. Widow of former mayor. Grand Dame.
SHELBY EATENTON-LATCHERIE – 23-30. Prettiest girl in town.
M’LYNN EATENTON – 48-58. Shelby’s mother. Socially prominent career woman.
OUISER (pronounced “Weezer”) – 60+. Wealthy curmudgeon. Acerbic, but lovable.
Auditions will be cold readings from the script to be held at The Grand on the Stanley Subaru stage. The audition materials can be found on the Grand’s website at grandonline.org. Please be prepared to list any rehearsal and/or performance date conflicts.
