70th Annual Maine Lobster Festival Kicks Off Next Wednesday

Rockland, Maine - Maine Lobster Festival will kick off their 70th year from Wednesday August 2nd through Sunday August 6th, 2017 in Rockland, Maine.

There is a lot you can do during the festival from riding rides, crate race, road races, enjoy live music, food and so much more.

It is a special time for the people behind Maine Lobster Festival as they will be celebrating their 70th year. For volunteers who spend their time volunteering from eating tent to ticket taker at the gates. Volunteers is what keeps the festival going.

Highlights of this year's festival are coronation, where one young lady will win Maine Sea Goddess title, seafood cooking contest, marine tent, children's events, entertainment and touring a Navy ship.

Official ribbon cutting ceremony at the Main Gate followed immediately by the arrival of King Neptune and his court, along with Adrianna Elaine Ames, the 2016 Maine Sea Goddess, arrive on the main dock from the briny deep to raise the flag and officially open the 2017 Maine Lobster Festival. Opening ceremonies will take place next to the flagpole by the Harbor Master’s building.

Come see the coronation of the 70th Maine Lobster Festival Sea Goddess! Festivities begin at 8 p.m. with music and the introduction of the Sea Princesses. The winner receives a cash prize and the title of The Maine Lobster Festival Sea Goddess with a lovely crown. She reigns at many events throughout the year, culminating with the start of the 2018 Lobster Festival. Also crowned is the Crown Princess and Miss Congeniality.

The festival provides free shuttle services to and from the festival grounds from the following locations. A bus arrives at each location approximately every 30 minutes.
