Video: Rockland Fire Make Quick Work of Serious Car Fire.

UPDATE #1; According to Rockland Fire Department, Rockland Fire & EMS responded to a reported car fire in the parking lot of Boston Financial, located at 12 Water Street.  Car 1 was first on scene and reported smoke and flames visible from the engine compartment.  Squad 3 arrived and stretched a 1 ¾ handline and the crew extinguished the fire using about 150 gallons of water.  The fire was contained to the engine compartment with no extension to the rest of the vehicle.
It was noted on arrival that 2 good Samaritans were trying to keep the fire from extending by using a small garden house.  They were asked to stop what they were doing and step back due to the dangers that car fires pose upon responders.  Shocks/struts are often pressurized to perform their needed functions, but when under high heat conditions, can rupture and cause bodily harm to anyone near the vehicle.  Gas/fuel in the vehicle can also cause serious injury if not properly protected, so please use extreme caution around vehicle fires.

Rockland, Me- Tuesday morning Rockland police and Fire responded to a car fire at 5 Water Street for a car fire.  Upon arrival they found a vehicle with the front end fully involved.  It took only a few minutes to bring it under control.
