BREAKING NEWS: Warren Fire Department, Knox County Sheriff's Office On Scene Of Atlantic Highway Two Vehicle Crash



UPDATE 9:45pm: According to Knox County Sheriff's Office, Just after 5 p.m. today, Deputies from the Knox County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a two vehicle head-on crash on Rt. 1(Atlantic Highway) in Warren near Sandy Shores Rd.  

According to witness statements, Joseph Kennedy, was in his vehicle stopped facing northbound waiting to turn left in traffic when April Pease, 28 of Pittston operating a 2006 Chevrolet sedan was unable to stop in time travelling in the same direction.  Pease swerved to the right to avoid hitting Kennedy from behind and lost control of her vehicle.  She swerved towards the ditch and apparently over-corrected, going around Kennedy’s vehicle and proceeded in to the southbound lane striking a 2011 Honda sedan almost head-on.  Richard Zauft, 63, of Sudbury, Massachusetts was travelling southbound and could not react in time to avoid being hit by Pease.  

Zauft and a passenger in Zauft’s car along with April Pease sustained non-life threatening injuries and were transported to Pen-Bay Medical Center.   Pease was issued a summons for an illegal pass.  

Assistance was provided by Knox County Regional Communications Center, Warren Fire and Ambulance Dept., Waldoboro Ambulance, and Thomaston Ambulance.

UPDATE 5:46pm: Thomaston, Waldoboro ambulance, Warren Rescue is en-route to Pen Bay Medical Center with one each.
UPDATE 5:35pm: Command is requesting another ambulance from Thomaston, Waldoboro is en-route with one.

Unknown injuries.
