Camden Public Library Events November 24 through December 8


Sunday, November 27

Cyber Sunday topic is “Accessibility Features of an iPad/iPhone,” all are welcome, 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Cyber Sundays is a series of weekly technology classes led by Technology Coordinator Olga Zimmerman.

Tibetan Buddhist master Geshe Gehlek will give a talk on “Awakening Compassion,” 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, presented by the Rockland Shambhala Meditation Center.


Monday, November 28

Free Medicare information session offered by United Healthcare at the Camden Public Library, 10:00 am, covering Medicare choices, with answers to questions about Medicare Advantage Plans.


Tuesday, November 29

Rhonda Feiman will give a talk on “Embrace the Season: Winter,” a Community Health Topic presented by the Journey to Health program of Pen Bay Medical Center and Waldo County General Hospital. The talk will be at 6:30 pm at the Camden Public Library. Feiman, licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, will show Chinese medicine practices and Qi-gong movements that can help strengthen the immune system and support emotional and physical balance.


Thursday, December 1

Author Malia Dell offers “Food That Works: Real Meals to Survive the 9 to 5,” at the Camden Public Library, 7:00 pm. Dell will talk about sustainable, healthy eating for anyone interested in making better choices in the way you eat, food, shop, and organize your fridge, no matter how busy your schedule. Books will be available for sale and signing.


Friday, December 2

Christmas-by-the-Sea opening ceremonies featuring CHRHS Chamber Singers, Women’s Choir, Off Beats, Fortissima, and maybe more! 4:30 to 6:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, followed by the Tree Lighting and caroling in Harbor Park at 6:30 pm.


Saturday, December 3

Story Hour with Santa at the Camden Public Library at 12:15 pm, after Santa arrives in Camden Harbor by boat. Santa reads his traditional “Twas the Night Before Christmas.”

Photographer Mark Haskell will again be taking free photos with Santa at the Camden Public Library, 1:00 pm


Sunday, December 4        

Ho Ho Holiday Children’s Book Fair 2:00 to 4:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, co-hosted by Sherman’s Books, featuring children’s book authors and illustrators including Ronni Arno, Liza Gardner Walsh, Lynn Plourde, and more. There will be books on hand for purchase and signing.


Monday, December 5

Annual “Writers Read” by the Writers’ Group of the Coastal Senior College, 1:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.


Tuesday, December 6

“Hour of Code” is a special program on coding, specifically for children ages 5 to 10, 5:00-6:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Space is limited, and sign-up is required. Instruction and equipment will be provided. Children under 8 should have an adult with them. Call 236-3440 to sign up. The program will be led by the library’s Technology Coordinator, Olga Zimmerman.

“Sugar Cravings: Fifteen Herbs You Need To Know” presented by Clinical Herbalist Steve Byers , 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library. Get ready for the holidays by retraining your body to appreciate sugar in smaller amounts, with herbs.


Wednesday, December 7

Midcoast Stroke Support Group meeting, 10:00 am at the Camden Public Library, with special speaker from Brain Injury Voices in Portland at 11:30 am. For more information and confirmation, call 273-2090.


Thursday, December 8

Art opening for Clarity’s annual exhibit in the Picker Room at the Camden Public Library, 6:00-8:00 pm. Clarity is the two-person art team, Robert and Su.Sane Hake, and their exhibit is “Temper Tantrum, A 20/20 Vision,” a “show to heal our time.” The gala opening will feature live music and audience participation.
