Sweetback Sisters and Girls Guns & Glory in double bill on Strand stage

The Sweetback Sisters band
Girls, Guns & Glory
Rockland, Maine - The Sweetback Sisters and Girls Guns & Glory will bring a fresh take on country and rock music of the 50’s and 60’s to the Strand Theatre stage, 345 Main Street, on Saturday, March 4 at 7:30pm. Tickets are on sale now.

The Sweetback Sisters, Emily Miller and Zara Bode and their band, perform infectious, rollicking country swing. Their charismatic charm harkens back to the golden era of both the silver screen cowgirl and the ersatz cowboy stars of local UHF TV kiddie shows. They sing precise, family-style harmonies that recall the best of country music from the Everlys to The Judds, as well as the spirited rockabilly energy of Wanda Jackson, one of the band’s role models.

Girl Guns & Glory has forged its sound from the raw materials of rockabilly, country and other American traditions, tempered by a unique musical and lyrical approach. Boston’s rising stars have been making a name for themselves through relentless touring, the release of five critically acclaimed records, and multiple awards. Bandmembers Ward Hayden (vocals/guitar), Paul Dilley  (electric and upright bass/piano), Josh Kiggans (drums/percussion), and Chris Hersch (lead guitar/banjo) find musical inspiration from early ’50s rock ‘n’ roll icons such as Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, and Buddy Holly, as well as country greats like Hank Williams and Johnny Cash.

Tickets are $20/Advance. $25/Door. Lobby and Balcony Bars will be open for age 21 and older. For more information, visit www.rocklandstrand.com. Tel: (207) 594-0070 EX 3  Email: info@rocklandstrand.com
