CASTINE, Maine – Tristan Richards (Greenville, Maine) scored twice to lead Maine Maritime Academy men's soccer over Lyndon State 3-1 on Saturday night, giving the Mariners their first North Atlantic Conference win of the season.
The Mariners who improve to 2-6-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the NAC opened up the scoring when Richards found the back of the net in the 31st minute.
Lyndon (1-7, 0-3) answered back almost 10 minutes later when Joshua Thibault snuck the equalizer by Mariner keeper Joshua Reeks (Bedford, N.H.).
Richards put the Mariners ahead in the 48th minute, and Henry Hersey (Greenville, Maine) added another goal in the 57th minute to give Maine Maritime the victory.
Reeks ended the game with four saves in the win, while Matt LaClair stopped six shots in net for the Hornets.
Maine Maritime returns to action today against Johnson State at 3:30 p.m. on Ritchie Field.
