Bowdoin Men's Soccer Collects Senior Day Win Over Hamilton

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Bowdoin men's soccer team rode a pair of first half goals to its second conference victory, downing visiting Hamilton 2-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Polar Bears (6-3-2, 2-3-2 NESCAC) collect their second consecutive win while handing the Continentals (5-7-0, 2-6-0 NESCAC) their third straight loss.
How It Happened
  • Cedric Charlier stole the ball in the right corner of Hamilton's defensive end and slipped a quick pass to Connor Keefe inside the box. Keefe fed Andrew Jones with another small touch which allowed Jones space to arc a shot inside the left post for the 1-0 lead 23:51 into the game.
  • Sam Ward served Nick DiStefano with a long ball from the midfield down the left line, setting up DiStefano behind the defense. The sophomore carried into the box for a one-on-one with Hamilton keeper Harris Pollack and found the far right side of the net to double Bowdoin's lead with 2:30 remaining in the half.
  • Bowdoin and Hamilton traded shots to open the second frame, but neither team was able to direct the ball on net and challenge the keepers.
  • The Continentals' most promising scoring opportunity came with under seven minutes remaining as Zack Becker offered up a shot from the left side that required Stevie Van Siclen to make a stop.
  • Bowdoin outshot Hamilton by an 8-4 margin with the Continentals holding a slide 4-3 edge in corner kicks.
  • Van Siclen made one stop for Bowdoin as Pollack made one save for Hamilton.
Up Next
  • Bowdoin returns to action Tuesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. as the Polar Bears take on Colby.
  • Hamilton travels to Williams on October 21 for a 3:00 p.m. NESCAC contest.
