Rockland, Maine - Local bluegrass band 'Miners Creek' of Rockport performed great in North Entertainment Tent during the 68th annual Maine Lobster Festival on Friday, July 31st, 2015 in Rockland, Maine.

'Miners Creek' members are Resa, Whitney & Emily Randolph, Peter Preoller, and Jenny Karod.

According to their Facebook page, Miners Creek combines folk, latin, classic rock, Appalachian and
old timey tunes, and classical music to create a new, distinctive take on bluegrass music.

The rocky coast of Maine and bluegrass music aren’t frequently found in the same sentence, but that’s exactly where you’ll find Miners Creek Bluegrass Band. Located in the tiny coastal village of Rockport, Maine, Miners Creek is at its core is a family band, consisting of song writing, mother/daughter duo Resa & Emily Randolph and husband/dad/banjo player Whitney Randolph.  Jesse McWilliams joins in on mandolin; Peter Proeller on claw hammer banjo; and Jenny Karod on viola/violin.

The band’s sound originates from the bluegrass tradition, but also gleans from the folk revival of the 1960s, latin chords and rhythms, classic rock, Appalachian and old timey tunes, and classical music. With each member of the band bringing their own passion and spin to the final product, we seek to create a new, distinctive take on bluegrass music.

Miners Creek derives its name from a hiking trail in Colorado where five out of six of the band members have lived at one point or another in their lives.
