Rockport's Miners Creek Performs During 68th Annual Maine Lobster Festival

Rockland, Maine - Local bluegrass band 'Miners Creek' of Rockport performed great in North Entertainment Tent during the 68th annual Maine Lobster Festival on Friday, July 31st, 2015 in Rockland, Maine.

Rockland, Maine - Come in out of the cold and warm up with the sounds of Miners Creek at the Rockland Public Library Community Room on Thursday, January 29 at 6:00 PM. The Rockland Library is located at 80 Union St.  The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Rockland Library and is free and open to the public.

Based out of the tiny coastal village of Rockport, Maine, Miners Creek’s sound originates from the bluegrass tradition, but borrows heavily from the folk revival of the 1960s, Latin chords and rhythms, classic rock, Appalachian/old timey tunes, and classical music.  With each member of the band bringing their own passion and spin to the final product, we seek to create a new, distinctive take on bluegrass music. The band performs a mix of original compositions and covers, taking pleasure in “bluegrassifying” traditionally non-bluegrass songs.

The band takes its name from a hiking trail in Colorado where most of the band has lived at one point or another.

Miners Creek is:   Resa Randolph on lead vocals and guitar, Whitney Randolph on Scruggs-style banjo, Peter Proeller on melodic and claw-hammer banjo, and Emily Randolph on bass. Jenny Karod joins in on viola when she’s not away at UMO.
