Sea Dogs Streak Ends at Three as Thunder Win 5-1

Portland, Maine -The Trenton Thunder (52-45) scored three times in the fourth inning and pulled away late with a 5-1 win over the Sea Dogs (35-63) to take the series finale at Hadlock Field in front of a sellout crowd on Wednesday afternoon.

Jaron Long (1-2) picked up the win in relief for Trenton, going the final five innings and allowing just three hits while striking out one.  Danny Burawa made the spot start for Trenton and allowed an earned run on two hits in four innings, walking one and striking out a season-high seven.

The Sea Dogs scored the game's first run when Aneury Tavarez hit a solo home run off of Danny Burawa on the first pitch he saw in the second inning.  Tavarez was just activated today from the temporary inactive list.

Trenton would respond in the fourth thanks to two walks from Danny Rosenbaum (L, 0-2).  With two outs in the inning, Billy Fleming hit a two-run double and Taylor Dugas followed up with an RBI double to make it 3-1 Thunder.  Trenton added to their lead in the ninth inning with two runs off of John Cornely.

Danny Rosenbaum allowed three earned runs on three hits in four innings, walking three and striking out five.

The Sea Dogs' homestand continues tomorrow as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats come to Hadlock Field to begin a four-game series.  Luis Diaz (1-8, 5.52) is scheduled to start for Portland against Jeff Hoffman (0-0. 2.84) of New Hampshire.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 PM.  Tickets are still available and can be purchased by phone at 207-879-9500 or online at seadogs.com.
