Native Plants for Wildlife Talk Rescheduled for March 19

Camden/Rockport, Maine - Hildy Ellis of Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District will lead a presentation on how to attract wildlife and birds with native plants at Merryspring Nature Center on Tuesday, March 19 at 12:00 noon. This talk has been rescheduled after a postponement on Tuesday, March 5.

While both native and non-native plants can provide local wildlife with food and shelter, native plants are the most efficient and beneficial for attracting birds, insects, and mammals. Hildy’s talk will highlight native shrubs, groundcover, and perennials that are great for wildlife, your garden, and your wallet.

Ellis is the District Coordinator for Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District. She has a degree in horticulture from the University of Maine, where she conducted graduate research on ornamental invasive plants.

This talk is part of Merryspring's 2013 Winter Talk Series, co-sponsored by The First and Allen Insurance and Financial.  Admission is free for Merryspring members, with a nominal fee of $5 for non-members.
