Winter Gateway (York) Farmers’ Market Opening Saturday, Dec 15

The Greater York Region Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce our 2012 - 2013 Winter Farmers’ Market season beginning on December 15 at the American Legion!

Steph Oeser, the market manager, says, “We’re really excited to kick of this third season. We’ve got more farmers (both produce and protein) than ever before at our winter market! It takes time to build up a market and it can be quite a balancing act to try to find a good variety of vendors and farmers in the first few years. I’m pleased with the number of farmers this year and I’m working to keep that momentum going. Hopefully our customer base will expand this year to match the broader variety of products as well!”

The market is again sponsored by The Bank of Maine; rediscover true community banking! Local decisions, local people, and a banking partner committed to providing exceptional service. Visit their website at www.thebankofmaine.com.

The 2012 - 2013 Winter Gateway Farmers’ Market will take place on 9 Saturdays between December and March indoors at The American Legion (next to Hannaford at 9 Hannaford Drive), in York, Maine. The dates are as follows, Dec 15 & 22, Jan 5 & 19, Feb 2 & 16 and March 2, 16 & 30. The market will run from 9:00am - 12:00pm and there will be 27-29 vendors each Saturday. Many of our vendors are back from last winter’s market and several of our regular summer food & craft vendors are also attending. Just like our summer market, this event is always free to attend.

The goal of this market is to support our local farmers, food-producers, artists & artisans, while offering a one-stop shopping experience for customers looking to buy all of their produce, breads, sweets, meats and specialty foods for the week. The select crafters at this market offer locally-made, unique gifts for you or someone special (especially during the holiday season)!
