UNDER SECRETARY FOR CIVILIAN SECURITY, DEMOCRACY, AND HUMAN RIGHTS MARIA OTERO

Under Secretary Otero is on foreign travel to London and Dublin from December 3 through 7. While in London, Under Secretary Otero will meet with officials of the Government of the United Kingdom to discuss regional and global issues. Under Secretary Otero will also participate in a Ministerial-Level Steering Committee Meeting of the Open Government Partnership (OGP), chaired by the Government of United Kingdom, to review recent progress of the Partnership in support of global open governance. In Dublin, Under Secretary Otero will launch Embassy Dublin’s Youth Council with Special Advisor for Global Youth Issues Zeenat Rahman. She will also meet with OSCE and European counterparts on issues related to civilian security.

ACTING UNDER SECRETARY FOR ARMS CONTROL AND INTERNATIONAL SECURITY ROSE GOTTEMOELLER
Acting Under Secretary of State Gottemoeller is on foreign travel to Iraq with Under Secretary of Defense Jim Miller for a meeting of the Defense and Security Joint Coordinating Committee.

Assistant Secretary Blake is on foreign travel to Ireland, Bangladesh and Bhutan through December 13.

ASSISTANT SECRETARY FOR INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION AFFAIRS ESTHER BRIMMER
Assistant Secretary Brimmer hosts a Rwandan delegation including representatives from the Rwandan Permanent Mission to the UN in New York, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Embassy of Rwanda in Washington. The delegation will be at the Department of State for day-long consultations on UN Security Council issues in advance of Rwanda’s upcoming term as a non-permanent UNSC member.

She will also meet with leading members of the women’s community who were involved in advancing the Northern Ireland peace process and current global efforts on these issues.
