"Occupy Gallery"


Beginning January 25, 2013, the Maine Artists Collective will present "Occupy Gallery" , a show of representational and abstract art depicting the artists perspective of social and economic injustice.  A First Friday reception is planned for January 4th from 5:30 to 8 pm at Constellation Gallery, 511 Congress St., Portland Maine.    "Occupy Gallery" will depict many different artistic takes on the concept in a variety of media.  The show will continue in the space until February 20th.

Many artists follow a path of realizing life purpose by utilizing unique talents to produce art to reflect the human life experience.  The path of artists often that of sacrifice to follow artistic calling instead of solely pursuing economic enrichment. Therefore, artists carry an important perspective and role in the expression of economic and social injustice.
Member artists include Anastasia Weigle, Angel Cray, Ann Tracy, Anthony S Marino, Carol Santora, Chris Reed, David Marshall, Diana Ellis, Frank Gruber, Jan Snyder, Jeannette Ross, Joanne Fitzpatrick, Jos Ruks, Kathleen Daughan, Kifah Abdulla, Kyler Henningsen, Nabintu (Whitley Newman), Robin Farrin, Sarah Haywood, Saul Fontenot-Amedee & Tatia DiChiara.

The mission of the Maine Artist Collective is to connect the public with Maine artists and support development by providing exhibition and studio space, education, and professional workshops.
