Augusta, Maine - Noted local bird experts Jeffrey and Allison Wells, co-authors of the new Tilbury House publication, Maine’s Favorite Birds, will give a slide show presentation and book signing at Lithgow Public Library on Thursday, December 13 at 6:30 p.m. It will be the final program of Lithgow Library’s nature series, called “Fifty Shades of Good Green Living,” which has featured a variety of speakers on different nature/outdoor topics. The birding program is free and open to the public, and takes place in the Reading Room.
The native Mainers, musicians, and lifelong birders graduated from the University of Maine at Farmington and went on to graduate programs at Cornell University. Allison later worked as communications director of the world-renowned Cornell Lab of Ornithology, while Jeff served as director of Bird Conservation for National Audubon. They have published hundreds of bird-related articles and have collaborated on many projects. Jeff is also author of Birder’s Conservation Handbook: 100 North American Birds at Risk.
Jeff currently serves as senior scientist for the International Boreal Conservation Campaign and is a visiting fellow at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.
