The Maine Film & Video Association Friday announced the premiere of the Maine Short Film Festival 2017 that will tour thirteen Maine theaters through May 2017. This premiere event will take place at The Strand Theatre in Rockland on Friday night, December 9, 2016 at 5:30pm and will feature many of the filmmakers and their cast and crews in a Q&A.
The 90-minute program celebrates Maine, its land, its people, its creative soul highlighting: Maine artists, fisherman, boat builders, Maine guides, transgenders, youth, and original screenplays in all genres: documentary, fiction, experimental, animation, comedy and horror. This third year of the Maine Short Film Festival brought in over 50 submissions from Maine filmmakers. The winning films are:

The winning films were chosen by the jurors:
Louise Rosen, lead juror and consulting director of L/A Arts; Ben Fowlie, founder and director of the Camden International Film Festival; and Daniel Kany, art and film critic of the Portland Press Herald.
Festival director and chair of the Maine Film & Video Association, Richard Kane, said: “Creativity is alive and well in the Maine filmmaking community as evidenced by this exciting group of new films. Don’t miss it.”
