Five Bates College women's track athletes receive All-NESCAC honors

HADLEY, Mass. -- Five members of the Bates women's track and field team officially received a total of nine All-NESCAC awards on Wednesday for their top-three event performances at Saturday's New England Small College Athletic Conference Championship.

Junior Allison Hill (Brunswick, Maine) led the way with three All-NESCAC honors. Sophomore Sally Ceesay (Bronx, N.Y.) and senior Alexis Dickinson (Brunswick, Maine) won two apiece, while junior Claire Markonic (Millerton, N.Y.) and sophomore Srishti Sunil (Bangalore, India) won one apiece.

Hill's haul included winning the conference title in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:02.85 and
placing second in the 100-meter hurdles, meanwhile lowering her own team record in the event to 14.50 seconds.

Ceesay also won her first conference title in the triple jump, breaking her own team record in the process with a top mark of 38 feet, 11.5 inches. Ceesay's previous team record was 38-8.25.

Dickinson placed second in the 100-meter dash and shattered Bates' record by a whopping 0.28 seconds with her time of 12.14 seconds.

Sunil placed second in the long jump with a top mark of 18-4.25, bettering her own year-old team record of 18-1.25 by three inches. Sunil also tied for fourth place in the high jump (5-2.25) and placed sixth in the triple jump (36-4.75).

Bates' 4x100-meter relay team -- Ceesay, Hill, Dickinson and Markonic -- placed third at NESCACs in 48.50 seconds, missing the team record by 0.04.

Ceesay now has three All-NESCAC honors in her career and Sunil has two.
