Portland, Maine- The Binghamton Mets (12-10) scored four runs in
an inning three separate times and cruised to a 13-2 win over the Sea
Dogs (8-17) in the series opener on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field.
The top six hitters in the Binghamton lineup combined to go 16-for-30
with four doubles, two home runs, 10 RBI and 12 runs scored . Niuman
Romero finished 3-for-6 with a double, home run, five RBI, and three
runs scored, while Dominic Smith went 3-for-6 with a home run, four RBI,
and two runs scored.
Andrew Barbosa (W, 1-0) picked up the win, allowing two runs (one
earned) on three hits, walking three and striking out four. Teddy
Stankiewicz's (L, 0-1) streak of four quality starts came to an end as
he allowed eight earned runs on nine hits in 3.2 innings, walking two
and striking out one.
Logan Taylor, Luis Mateo, and David Roseboom combined to pitch the final
four innings of the game for Binghamton and allowed no runs on three
combined hits, walking one and striking out six.
The win is Binghamton's 8th straight over the Sea Dogs dating back to
last year and 13th straight at Hadlock Field dating back to 2014.
The series continues this evening at Hadlock Field, first pitch
comes at 6:00 PM. RHP Ty Buttrey (0-4, 4.24) makes the start for
Portland against RHP Tyler Pill (1-2, 4.18) of Binghamton. Tickets are
