Story:
Nokomis rattled the post once and outshot Winslow 8-4 in the first half of play but were tied with the Black Raiders 0-0 at the half on Homecoming Saturday morning. Winslow was able to battle back and control more of the 2nd half outshooting Nokomis 10-6 in the half and scoring the games only goal with 4:21 remaining. Freshman Sara Doughty received a ball from Sarah Guimond and saw an opening down the right center of the field. After streaking by a couple of defenders, her shot to the far post past Nokomis Keeper Aren Herrick, who was filling in for an ill Shayla Kelley, was the eventual game winner. Maddy Morneault and Makenzie Carlow were pivotal on defense for Winslow. Nokomis drops to 6-5. Winslow improves to 7-2-2 and next hosts Belfast for Senior Day on Tuesday, October 13th.
