Calendar listing: Ellacappella at the Barn, July 14, 7PM, Surry Arts at the Barn, 667-1308.
Surry, Maine — Ellacappella began one summer day in 2003 in the tiny coastal Maine town of East Blue Hill. While picnicking with her friends and neighbors, one woman began to sing. Another joined in harmony, then another, and Ellacappella was born. Ellacappella is an energetic, soulful group comprised of 11 opinionated women, with a wide range of experience, ages, and musical interests. Our repertoire is just as diverse, with selections from Bach to Blondie and everything in between. We perform continuously throughout the year at both public and private functions, but our happiest moments are singing for and with the members of our community. Although the Ellacappella has grown and changed since our early days, the sense of sisterhood through music has endured, and is what keeps us together still. In celebration of the Herimone’s upcoming historical visit to Castine, the program will feature French-inspired songs, late 18th century patriotic pieces and fanciful nautical numbers.
