Sylvain's Acadian Aces Takes On Maine Lobster Festival Stage

Rockland, Maine - With Acadian Cajun Zydeco genre of music, the band Sylvain's Acadian Aces, Cajun Aces, took to the main stage at the 68th Maine Lobster Festival on Thursday, July 30th, 2015 in Rockland, Maine.

Members that make up this band are Robert Sylvain, vocals, Dobro Haakon Kallweit, fiddle, vocals, Junior Stevens, button-box accordian, Tom Jacques, upright bass and Kris Day on drums.

According to their Facebook page, "Sylvain's Acadian Aces keeps the ‘cajun flame alive in old Acadie with an energetic brand of raw, rootsy 'cajun music derived directly from the source. The vocal power of guitarist Robert Sylvain and charismatic fiddler Hawk Kallweit supplies a one-two punch that’s instantly compelling and distinctive. With Maine's own true accordian ace Junior Stevens on button-box, and the unstoppable combination of Tom Jacques on upright bass and Kris Day on drums, Sylvain's Acadian Aces deliver heart- wrenching lovesongs and electrifying dance numbers that can bring even the most stoic New Englanders to their feet. Rooted in classic cajun two-steps and waltzes, the repertoire also folds in elements of creole and zydeco traditions along with original Americana and rock 'n roll sensibilities".

"Robert Sylvain is an Acadian-Mainer descended from the first French settlers who called Maine "Acadie" in 1604. The diaspora of 1755 bore two distinct cultures: those Acadians who ended up in the southwest Louisiana, known as 'Cajuns, and Sylvain's ancestors, who escaped deportation into the woods of the then unorganized Madawaska region of northern Maine. The two cultures grew separately with different influences and different resources, but always sharing the thread of their forebears. When Matthew, son of acclaimed cajun fiddler Michael Doucet, came to Maine and brought his family's music together with Sylvain's, a musical bridge was created between the two worlds that had a powerful effect download hires photo at: thecajunaces.com/trio.jpg on Portland music and has grown into a vital and unique force that continues to incite and inspire audiences of all stripes".
