SEA DOGS ANNOUNCE OPENING DAY FESTIVITIES

Opening Ceremonies will Include a Special Tribute to Bill Troubh
Portland, Maine - The Portland Sea Dogs will play their 2014 home opener on Thursday, April 10th at 6:00 PM at Hadlock Field against the New Britain Rock Cats.  The opening ceremonies will honor Sea Dogs Hall of Famer Bill Troubh, who passed away in November.  Other festivities include a World Series poster giveaway, the Sea Dogs Dance Team, Shipyard Brewing, and much more.

The Sea Dogs will have a special dedication and announcement to honor Bill Troubh as part of the pre-game ceremonies.  Troubh, who passed away unexpectedly on November 8, 2013, was a lifelong citizen of the City of Portland.  He served multiple terms on the Portland City Council and was Mayor of the city in 1974 and 1975 and again in 1983 and 1984. Bill was instrumental in bringing your Portland Sea Dogs to the city in 1994. He also played a major role in the development of the Portland Waterfront, Cumberland County Civic Center and the Portland Ice Arena. After successfully bringing the Sea Dogs to Portland, he stayed involved serving as the teams' legal counsel and served a six year term as President of the Eastern League from 1997 through 2002.  Members of the Troubh family will throw out the ceremonial first-pitch.

The South Portland High School Marching Band will perform the National Anthem.  The band has been a Maine Band Director's Association Gold Medal winner for eight consecutive years.   This past year, South
Portland won the Maine State Jazz Festival for the seventh time in the last eight years.

The first 1,000 fans to enter the ballpark will receive a 2013 Red Sox World Series poster, courtesy of the Sun Journal.

Opening ceremonies will also include the return of the Portland Sea Dogs Dance Team, presented by Q 97.9 FM.  The team will perform pre-game on the field.  The team is compromised of boys and girls 8 to 16 years-old and is designed to support the Sea Dogs' organization by providing entertainment during select home games throughout the 2014 season.

The Sea Dogs will be providing over 500 Portland students with free tickets to Opening Day.  The Sea Dogs partnered with the Portland Recreation Department and the Portland Public Library to have students "Read Their Way to Opening Day" through a reading challenge put forth by Slugger and the Sea Dogs.  The 500 students who met the Sea Dogs' challenge will participant in an on field parade on Opening Day.

As fans enter the park they will be greeted by the Bellamy Jazz Band.

Gates will open at 4:00 PM.  Pre-game ceremonies will begin at approximately 5:50 PM with team introductions and the first-pitch is scheduled for 6:20 PM.
