ORLAND, Maine - Want to see where wood frogs and spotted salamanders do their spring thing? Meet us at the Great Pond Mtn. Wildlands South Gate on Rte. 1 at 1 pm to carpool a couple miles to Great Pond Mountain Conservation Trust’s 72-acre Linscott Conservation Easement, where we’ll hike in to explore a variety of vernal pools – springtime breeding ponds for several important woodland species. Geocaching in the Wildlands, Sunday, April 27
ORLAND, Maine - Want to learn to use cell phones and GPS devices to find hidden caches? Meet Geocacher James Emmert at the Great Pond Mountain Wildands' Popple Grove (a short walk in from the South Gate on Rte. 1 near 176) at 1 pm. James will demonstrate various geocaching paraphernalia and the group will locate two caches in the Wildlands. Fun for the whole family; short, half-mile walk involved.
