Offense keeps rolling, Sea Dogs cruise past the Rock Cats 7-1

Portland is over .500 for the first time since 2011
Portland, Maine - LF Ryan Dent knocked in three runs and Anthony Ranaudo (2-0) worked 5.1 innings, leading the Portland Sea Dogs (8-7) to a 7-1 win over the New Britain Rock Cats (8-8) on Saturday afternoon at Hadlock Field. With the win, Portland goes over .500 for the first time since they were 1-0 in 2011.

Ranaudo scattered four hits, walked three, fanned four and allowed just one run.  New Britain took a 1-0 lead in the first inning.  Danny Santana led off the game with a triple and scored on a sac-fly by James Beresford.  The win for Ranaudo was his second of the season and the first of his career at Hadlock Field.

Portland's offense immediately went to work off losing pitcher Logan Darnell (1-1), scoring two runs in the first.  With one out, Xander Bogaerts walked and took third on a single by Travis Shaw.  J.C. Linares reached on an RBI-E6 to tie the game.  Michael Almanzar followed with a run-scoring fielder's choice.  Linares added an RBI single in the third inning.

Dent picked up his first 3 RBI's of the season for the Sea Dogs.  In the fourth he plates Christian Vazquez with a groundout to short.  The California native put the game away in the sixth inning with a two-run double to right-center field.

Will Latimer relieved Ranaudo in the sixth inning, working 2.1 scoreless on one hit and three strikeouts.  Chris Martin fired a scoreless ninth, extending his scoreless inning streak to 12 innings.

Dent, Heiker Meneses, Shaw and Tony Thomas all had two hits for Portland.  After losing the opener 17-1, Portland has outscored the 'Cats 19-2 in the last two games.

The Sea Dogs and Rock Cats (Twins affiliate) conclude their four-game series tomorrow afternoon at 1:00 PM from Hadlock Field.
