Thursday, April 25

“The Wreck of the Portland in the Great Gale of 1898,” an illustrated talk by Richard Cornelia, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, part of the library’s Maritime Month.


Saturday, April 27

Re-scheduled Spring Cleanup Day in Camden Park and Amphitheatre, 9:00 to noon. Volunteers are needed, bring gloves and rakes and meet Dave Jackson in the park. (Postponed from April 20.)

Meeting of the Maine Daylily Society, 11:30 am at the Camden Public Library, all are welcome, featuring renowned plant hybridizer Curt Hanson. For more information call 236-4085.


Tuesday, April 30

“My Money Works,” 6:00-8:30 pm at the Camden Public Library. Linda Buckmaster will lead a free class in personal and family money management. Four Tuesday evenings, April 30, May 7, 14, and 21. This class can help you gain the skills you need to stretch your money, pay your bills, reduce debt, and set personal financial goals. To register call Women, Work & Community at 596-2615.

Author Duane Robert Pierson will speak on his historical novel, Annie and the Prince of Wales: Portland, Maine 1860, 7:00 pm at the Camden Public Library, as part of Maritime Month at the library.


Wednesday, May 1

Lawyers in Libraries – local lawyers will speak on legal issues of interest to the general public, particularly on how to access legal assistance, on Law Day 2013, noon to 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library and the Rockport Public Library, and 1:00-3:00 pm at the Rockland Public Library.


Thursday, May 2

Free workshop on when to start Social Security benefits, offered by Brian Beaulieu of Allen Insurance and Financial, noon to 2:00 pm at the Camden Public Library.

Dean Stevens returns to the Camden Library Coffeehouse, 7:00 pm, with special guest David Dodson. Admission is $8, call 236-3440 for more information.

Indoor Book Sale at the Camden Public Library, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, to benefit the book fund.

Indoor Book Sale at the Camden Public Library, 1:00 to 4:30 pm, to benefit the book fund.


Tuesday, May 7

The Maine Poetry Express makes a whistle stop of readings of Maine poems by Maine people at the Camden Public Library, 7:00 pm. Conducted by  Maine’s Poet Laureate Wesley McNair, and including readers Ellen Taylor, Dave Morrison, Steve Pixley, Dan Bookham, Ted Kanellakis, and Clio Berta.


Thursday, May 9

Tribute to opera legends and Maine residents Bidu Sayao and Beaumont Glass, presented by Michael Lund, 7:00 pm in the Reading Room at the Camden Public Library, a fascinating musical evening featuring recordings of arias, duets, and songs.
