WSOC: Terriers Blank Mitchell 2-0

GORHAM, Maine - Katherine Hoving (Bristol, Maine) scored her second goal in as many days while Julia Smith (Durham, Maine) added her first of the season to give Thomas a 2-0 victory over Mitchell on Saturday afternoon at the University of Southern Maine.

After a scoreless first, Hoving got Thomas on the board in the 52nd minute after a collecting a loose ball at the top of the box and firing a shot home to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead. Smith added on her insurance goal in the 75th minute with Maddy Noyes (Gardiner, Maine) picking up the assist to give Thomas the 2-0 victory.

Kayla Gordon (Wiscasset, Maine) was strong in net, stopping both shots she faced for the shutout victory. Drew Johnson took the loss, allowing two goals on 12 shots.

BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
  • After scoring in yesterday's season opener, Hoving became the first Thomas rookie since 2010 to score in her first two collegiate games.
  • The Terriers dominated the shot category, outshooting Mitchell 27-2 on the day.

Thomas will visit crosstown rival Colby on Wednesday, September 5 at 5:00 PM.
