Hickey, Nor'easters run away from field to start 2018

STANDISH, Maine -- Jacob Hickey captured his first collegiate race with a cushion of 37 seconds as the University of New England men's cross country squad registered 19 points to claim the Saint Joseph's College Invitational on Saturday morning (Sep.1).

Hickey's 5K time of 16:45 put him ahead of teammates Ben Wright (17:22) and Anthony Chase (17:42) within the field of 36 runners. Rounding out the team score was Donovan Duffy (18:17) and Xander Vitarelli (18:27) by placing in 6th and 7th, respectively.

The host Monks totaled 44 as the runner-up, with the University of Maine-Farmington coming in at 71 points.

The Nor'easters are scheduled to host the UNE Invitational next Saturday (11:30) at Rotary Park.
