According to UMaine Women's Soccer, The University of Maine women's soccer team and head coach Scott Atherley are pleased to welcome the team's incoming Class of 2021. Three defenders, two forwards and one midfielder comprise the new class, with four hailing from the United States and two from Canada. They join a squad looking to make its sixth-straight postseason conference tournament.

Olivia Bamford — Defender — Rochester, N.H. (Seacoast United SC)
Played club soccer for Seacoast United Soccer Club (SUSC) ... captained the team for six years (2011-17) ... part of six state championship squads with SUSC ... member of SUSC U15 Elite Regional and National teams ... National Futsal Champion with Futsal New Hampshire ... also captained her Spaulding High School squad and was named the offensive MVP in 2013, 2015 and 2016.
Hannah Belleville — Defender — Salem, Conn. (Oakwood Premier SC)
Played club soccer for Oakwood Premier Soccer Club ... won National Premier Leagues division championship ... also played for East Lyme High School, winning three-straight division titles ... named First-Team All ECC in both soccer and track and field.
Emma Cossette — Midfielder — Québec City, Québec (Royal Sélect de Beauport)
Played club soccer for Royal Sélect de Beauport, finishing second at the Québec Cup in 2016 ... also played for Armada Chaudière-Est, winning the Québec Cup and finishing fifth at the Canadian Championships ... also played rugby in high school, captaining the squad in 2015 and 2016 ... named soccer MVP in 2012 and 2014 and rugby MVP in 2015 ... earned leadership awards in both rugby (2016) and soccer (2015, 2016).
Charlotte Messer — Forward — Camden, Maine (Seacoast United SC)
Played club soccer for Seacoasted United Soccer Club (SUSC), winning the 2016 Maine State Cup ... led Camden Hills Regional High School to the 2016 Class A State Championship as well as the 2016 KVAC Championship and Northern Maine Championship on the strength of a 17-1-0 record ... named a 2016 Maine State All-American and 2016 All New England player ... named the 2016 KVAC Player of the Year.
Kora Kukk — Forward — Brookfield, Conn. (FSA FC)
Played her club soccer for FSA FC of the National Premier Leagues ... participated in the Olympic Development Program ... named All-Patriot Division and All-Academic in high school.
Jane Stevens — Defender — Upper Tentantallon, Nova Scotia (Halifax United)
Played club soccer for Halifax United ... provincial champion 2012-2016 ... attended club nationals 2012-14 and 2016, winning a silver medal in 2012 and a bronze in 2016 ... was a Canadian Association of Independent Schools silver medalist (2013-15) ... team named Sports Nova Scotia Team of the Year in 2012 and 2016 ... Nova Scotia Provincial Team member in both soccer and hockey ... member of Team Nova Scotia at the 2015 Canada Winter Games was team captain of club and school soccer teams as well as school hockey ... attended Rothesay Netherwood School and was named the athlete of the year in 2015 and 2017 ... was class valedictorian.
The 2017 season begins in earnest on Sunday, when the Black Bears welcome the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds to Mahaney Diamond. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
