Eagles lose two on Senior Day

BANGOR, Maine - Husson lost a pair of North Atlantic Conference (NAC) matches Saturday inside Newman Gymnasium on senior day. Husson (7-14, 1-1 NAC) lost to Colby-Sawyer (6-22, 4-0 NAC) 3-0 before losing to the Maine Maritime  (12-10, 3-1) 3-2.

Colby-Sawyer 3 - Husson 0 (25-13, 25-21, 24-8)

The Chargers' offense was clicking in the day's first match with a .242 hitting percentage. Colby-Sawyer also finished with 17 service aces.

Gabrielle Rodriguez led the Chargers' with eight kills on .571 hitting. She added seven digs and a match best six aces. Kelsey Sullivan also had eight kills and seven digs. Gabrielle Ratte collected 17 assists and added a pair of aces. Lexi Strong finished with a match-high 11 digs.

The Eagles were led by Bailey Cote's four kills and three aces. Emma Plouffe chip in with 4 kills of her own and three digs. Marissa Johnson had a team-high six assist and Sarah Wilson had nine digs.
Husson has now lost seven straight matches to Colby-Sawyer.

Maine Maritime 3 - Husson 2 (25-13, 25-13, 22-25, 21-26, 15-13)

The Mariners cruised to a 2-0 lead, but the Eagles came back to tie things up at 2-2, sending the match into the fifth set.

Sarah Wilson led the Eagles with 15 digs and Nia Arranaga recorded a team-high seven kills. Marissa Johnson had 23 assists, six digs, and six aces.

Tess Clark lead the Mariners with a game-high 21 digs, six service aces, five kills and two blocks. Gillian O'Neal lead all players with 19 kills, while adding nine digs and three aces. Molly Marcotte grabbed 13 digs, two kills and an ace. Melissa Spaulding tallied 31 assists, 11 digs and two kills, while Alex McClure added 10 digs each.

Maine Maritime has now defeated Husson in seven-straight matches, including a 3-0 win earlier this season in non-conference action.

The Eagles will return to the court on Tuesday, October, 20 at Colby. The first serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
