WATERVILLE, Maine — After a two-year absence, the Colby College volleyball team is back in the New England Small College Athletic Conference playoffs.

The Mules (9-10 overall, 4-5 NESCAC) made sure of that with a 3-2 victory over Hamilton College on Saturday at Wadsworth Gymnasium. Colby is currently in seventh place in the league and can finish no worse than eighth for the eight-team playoff field.

Colby, ranked 14th in New England, lost a grueling 3-2 match to Middlebury College on Friday night. Meanwhile, the Continentals (3-15 overall, 1-7 NESCAC) had a solid weekend only to lose two 3-2 matches after falling to Bates College on Friday.

The Mules were hoping for any easy match after winning 25-15 and 25-11 in the first two sets. However, Hamilton pulled out a 25-23 win in the third set and tied it up with a 25-18 win. Colby earned the victory with a 15-9 win in the final set.
